Stone Maintenance Do’s

Though all stones are different, there are a few general maintenance tips to ensure you get the longest use out of them. Keep in mind, some stones are stronger than others and some are more porous, so these tips may not apply to all. It is always good to research your specific stone to ensure longevity. Here are a few general tips:

-Dust floors frequently.

-Clean surfaces with mild dish soap or soap specialized for your type of stone.

-Make sure to rinse thoroughly and dry off the surface after cleaning.

-Clean up spills immediately- if your stone type is more porous, staining can occur.

-Protect countertops by enforcing the use of coasters, trivets, etc., and protect floors with rugs in high traffic areas (i.e. by the front door).
