WHAT IS SOLID SURFACE?
Manufactured material that is made of acrylic resin, polyester resin or a
combination of the two that is then combined with filler, color pigments and acrylic chips. Your edge is typically built up to give the appearance of thickness since sheets are a standard ½” thickness. Since this is a manufactured product, you cannot use heat on these countertops.
STAINING SOLID SURFACE
Many types of surfaces can be stained, sometimes permanently, by such things as grease spots, blueberries, wine or makeup. On solid surface, most of these can be removed with water or an abrasive cleaner.
WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE SOLID SURFACE?
Large surfaces require seams regardless of the material used. With solid surface, the seams are hard to detect. This is not only good for aesthetics, but it also eliminates a place for crumbs, dirt, and stains to get into.
